The Livestock Conservancy is a nonprofit organization that protects endangered livestock and poultry breeds from extinction. They are the driving force behind the preservation of genetic diversity for heritage livestock breeds and strong supporters of small, sustainable farms. Part of Cabbage Hill Farm Foundation’s mission statement is based off of the work of the Livestock Conservancy.
The Shave ‘Em To Save ‘Em initiative recognizes fiber artists who use wool from breeds on the Livestock Conservancy’s Priority List while connecting shepherds of heritage breeds with customers. This is a great program that is already making a big difference for small farms raising fiber breeds. Cabbage Hill Farm Foundation is proud to be a part of this program.
Cabbage Hill Farm Foundation has proudly worked with the Watershed Agriculture Council for over 10 years. Through the implementation of our Whole Farm Plan and Nutrient Management Plan, we are able to help protect the Croton Reservoir.
The Westchester Land Trust works with public and private partners to help preserve land in perpetuity, and to protect and enhance the natural resources in our community. In 2015 Mrs. Kohlberg preserved 70 acres of Cabbage Hill Farm Foundation forever as an agriculture/conservation easement.
The Community Center of Northern Westchester provides food, clothing and a wide range of support programs to thousands of households across 38 communities in Northern Westchester. We are proud to help support our local food pantry.
